When I arrived at the fancy Jumeirah Essex House next to Central Park, I was greeted with a wet towel at check-in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Once in the room I had fun with the phone/ touch pad control for everything. You could set the mood of the room, turn everything on and off….pretty cool. The view of Central park is pretty amazing, I have never seen so many trees in New York City.
Next to my amazing park view was a not so amazing “welcome” plate… with a candy apple something that looked like cat food and a few grapes or something really strange. The bed was super comfortable so were the blue robes. Great shower and fancy bath tub, plenty of hot water. The internet was not so amazing and cost 15 dollars per day. The room service was good but very expensive and the mini bar was one of those ones that charges you as soon as you take something out or if you accidentally shake or knock something over… not fun. The flat screen TV was great! I watched cartoons all night and when I had to pee there were sensor lights all around the room that kept me from stubbing my toe or worse peeing somewhere other than the toilet. Over all its a great hotel though not very hip. The building is full of strange old people. would be great to go there when you are 50+ and want to feel special.
