During the last of my stay in New York, I spent one perfect night in suite 1204 of The Sherry-Netherland, from where I had a spectacular view on the madness of the corner of Fifth Avenue and 59th Street and simultaneously on the peacefulness of Central Park. Silence, space, high ceilings, an enormous king size bed and a marble bathroom  -basically the things you need to feel good. The building is Neo-Romanesque and Renaissance style. It features travertine marble facing on the base and an elaborate Gothic-inspired minaret. Unique touches include the whimsical griffins with hanging lanterns that guard the exterior. The 38-story building was the world's tallest apartment building when it was completed in 1927. The Sherry's lobby was modeled after The Vatican Library. There are classical friezes, vaulted ceilings, ornate mirrors, crystal chandeliers and hand-loomed French carpets. I just love so much staying at a hotel with so much history. But once you step out, you are immediately immersed in the New York of the 21st Century with an Apple store around the corner and plenty of iconic department stores and boutiques on Fifth Avenue. If you are in a mood for eating not too far from your bed, the hotel has its own restaurant, aka the infamous Harry Cipriani. Staying at The Sherry-Netherland from the Mantis Group will just make your New York experience totally magnificent.
