NYC Landscapes Exhibit by Lisa Breslow
1 min

New York City. Its skyline is the most recognizable in the world, a symbol of pride and aspiration to anyone who looks upon it, especially its inhabitants. This November, Kathryn Markel Fine Arts will host one of those proud New Yorkers Lisa Breslow and her ninth solo show, NYC Landscapes. In this striking collection, Breslow turns her attention to the manmade geometry of the cityscape without losing sight of the raw energy and natural elements that are intricately woven throughout the streets. The new works in Breslow’s current exhibition came about as a result of turning her attention toward the landscape where she lives and works, New York City. She began this exploration by paintings scenes of Central Park at night which express a newfound energy and include, for the first time in her work, elements of the manmade. In these paintings the urban geometry of the city holds its own with the natural forms of the park, as architectural masses rise mysteriously out of the atmosphere. -By Debra Anderson
