LUXX XL is the second hotel in Bangkok built by Dusadee Srishevachart after his smaller scale version, LUXX Silom. LUXX XL is not only larger, but offers hugely spacious rooms and a beautiful stone pool in the middle of a beautiful serene garden. This hotel has the ultimate oasis feel- located in one of the most posh streets in Bangkok. It is also a block away from Lumphini Park and the Night Market. It is in the perfect location if you want to be close to everything, but also enjoy some peace and quiet.
The spaciousness of this hotel translates to the hallways that are expansive and clean. The rooms are a mix of warm teak wood and soft greys. Floor to ceiling windows flood the rooms with light. Even the bathroom is open and spacious, with a reticulating door that opens to the wraparound terrace. Normally, I’m not the exhibitionist ready to bare myself to whomever may be washing dishes across the way, however there is something about Thailand that just makes you less self-conscious than anywhere else. It offers a liberating and enjoying plein air experience.
When I stayed here, I had a chance to speak with the owner/architect/host/and sometimes chef. He was actually the one who had made my eggs to order that morning). Dusadee, who has studied in the U.S as well as Thailand, had worked in Finance for many years. He found that his true passion was design and hospitality. His hands-on approach is what gives this place its vision and appeal. It has everything that a modern hotel offers, but has even more personal touches that make it stand out. For instance, there is an ever change complimentary breakfast each morning. Don’t like what’s served? Just ask and you get eggs prepared to order. There is even a library of novels, travel books, and magazines, as well as an extensive collection of DVDs that you can watch on your flat screen TV (with surround system), found in every room. There are also plans to have an open honor bar and kitchen that opens up to the pool.
All of this comes together to give the LUXX XL its ultimate appeal. It’s not only the comfort and space that it offers, but the feeling that you are always welcome. There is a “Thai Smile” that is always present. This place has the look and polish of a very modern hotel along with the welcoming feel of someone’s home.
