I have stayed at a lot of great hotels recently but I should say that Hotel Home was probably the best I have ever experienced. It’s not trying to be a palace. No gold spigots and no army of grooms in the lobby. But instead the most overwhelming sensation of good feelings in a space. That’s the real luxury. Built by Argentinian architect Rodrigo Cunill, the hotel is all about a play on interior and exterior spaces. Once you cross the lobby that looks like a very cool living room furnished with a mix of colonial sofas, art deco tables and 2000’s styled chairs and lamps, you are semi-outside from where you can access a few rooms. Keep going and you’ll walk through a cosy bar/restaurant but inside that becomes an outdoor terrace you reach the swimming pool and garden. At that point you already think you are in a cool hotel. But when you realize that you are staying in the “Pool Side Suite” that is literally hidden behind the vegetation of the garden. You have access to a little private paradise. 72m2 room that features original 1926 hand-painted French wallpaper and original George Nelson’s desk. Bright, spacious and tastefully decorated, it’s not a cliche to say that you very easily feel at home. Next to your bed you can open a huge window that gives you direct access to a mini pool. Perfection. The bathroom is super big and classy. There’s a light hole on the top of the bathtub. And in case it was not already enough, on the rooftop, the suite has its private terrace that overlooks the hotel pool and lush garden, and has as its centre piece an outdoor wood burning fire place to enjoy the outdoor space even in colder evenings. The hotel is perfectly located in the best area to stay in Buenos Aires: Palermo Hollywood. Many bars and restaurant around, good looking buildings if you like photography and it’s quite safe. Conclusion, if you are visiting the Argentinian capital, it’s Hotel Home or nothing.
