We arrived at Mastro’s in Thousand Oaks on a cold and windy night. The cozy interior of the restaurant helped to warm us quickly. The dining room was dimly lit and adorned with lots of eye-catching fixtures. Our waiter Shaun was younger, but knew the menu as if he’d written it. At this point a round of neat Johnny Walker’s seemed like the smartest thing we could do.

The dream starts with me sipping a glass of Nicholas Feuilatte Champagne. I glide hazily into a large warehouse filled with enticing smells and swarms of chattering people. The crowd parts for me creating a clear path to who I recognize to be Chef Masaharu Morimoto.

From the ink of the cuttlefish and it’s use to stain bodies with Henna, to the hue of a vintage photograph with shades of brown and tinges of red, the word sepia has a deep and rich history. In this case, Sepia is a fairly new restaurant which has a bright, rich future and is already a known favorite to high profile guests such as our new first lady, Michelle Obama.

After only two hours of sleep in forty eight hours, two plane rides and three hours of yoga, I’m ready for a cocktail.
Not just any cocktail, I’d like one artfully crafted, made with superior ingredients and love.
Wandering the San Francisco streets in a sleep and food deprived delirium, unsure of where to rest [...]

The 75th anniversary of the End of Prohibition is next Friday, December 5th. To celebrate, the throw-back bartenders at comme Ça have brought four classic cocktails back to mark the occasion and are offering an additional one for 75 cents. In order to take advantage of the deal, you need to email the restaurant for a password (in typical Prohibition fashion) which you give to the bartender in order to indulge for less than a buck.

Tinto Tapas Espana was something I had been looking forward to all week long. Located in the less flashy area of West Hollywood, the appearance from outside of Tinto’s was unassuming. Yet when I opened the door I was impressed by the authentic Spanish style layout and design. The bar area offered baroque style oversized seats and a dividing wall with high arches that gave way to the red brick dining area where brilliant chandeliers are set high enough to create a relaxed mood.
