Justin Bieber is known and loved as much for his hair as he is for his music. His stylist Vanessa Price, the talent behind the famous “Bieber do”, took some time to talk with us about her choice of products Davines and which products she uses on her famous clients.
Do you have a signature hairstyle? If so, what is it?
My signature hairstyle would have to be the Bieber bang, well, that’s what I am most known for creating. I feel that my signature style is slightly undone and flexible. I like to create hairstyles that are sexy and slightly unkempt.
What are some of your favorite things about Davines products?
The thing that attracted me to the Davines product line was that they are a visionary company with an interest in sustainability without forgoing style and product substance. It is a very luxurious product line that treats hair from the molecular level up. Their simple packaging and quirky style (for wizards) is an added bonus!
How do you determine the direction to go when styling someone’s hair?
Everything from personal style to the hair’s texture to the context of an event weighs in when I am determining how to style someone’s hair. It really changes from person to person, event to event, face to face. However, I always try and put my own spin on every style…I want to recognize a haircut or hairstyle as one of my own, like an artist’s signature on a painting.
What is your favorite product to use on your clients out of the whole Davines range?
I have 2 ultimate favorites from the Davines product line, the NOUNOU Shampoo and Conditioner and the For Wizards No. 14 Sea Salt Primer. I can’t get enough of either….they make my job easy. And I use them on myself. It’s great when you love a product so much that not only do you use it on your clients but you yourself can’t live without it.
Which Davines product do you use on Justin Bieber’s hair?
Justin and I are having fun experimenting with new products these days; our absolute favorites are the For Wizards No. 14 Sea Salt Primer and the For Wizards No. 13 Mat Forming Ground.
Is there a certain time period or style icon you look to for inspiration?
I have always looked to music across all genres and throughout history for inspiration. I am in love with everyone from Francoise Hardy to Phyllis Hyman to Morrissey just to name a few. Music has always been a great source of inspiration, over history musicians have been on the forefront of style. Most often they are the style icons that I notice.
