The Stafford Hotel – London

Posted on 07 October 2009

Frankly speaking, the Stafford Hotel is unique in spirit with gracious warmth and English elegance located in the heart of London. Old fashioned hospitality is alive with friendly, efficient service from the moment you arrive at the door. The hotel features a combination of both genuine antique decoration mixed with original quirky details spattered here and there. With three separate Georgian era buildings, the Main House offers individually styled rooms with traditional design, the Carriage House features suites overlooking the 17th Century courtyard while the Stafford Mews offers comfortable suites with separate living rooms and large luxurious bathrooms and some rooms with views of the London skyline. The hotel also has an unconventional yet warm in-house bar known as “the American Bar”. The bar hosts locals as well as out-of-town visitors who have been leaving their baseball hats to be collected and hung from the ceiling for over 40 years. Adding to the cool quirk is the underground wine cellar where private events can be held and a winding walkway leads to a dead end brick door which some say might actually be a secret passageway to St. James Castle. With an intimate and unique charm that no large hotel can match, the Stafford is also perfectly located a short stroll from Piccadilly and Bond Street filled with designer boutiques and some of the best restaurants that London has to offer (Dolada, L’Oranger, Avenue and more are right at your fingertips). Oxford and Regent Streets, Leicester Square and the Royal Opera House are all close by as well. With outside passageways leading to Green Park and narrow halls leading out onto St. James Street there is so much to see and explore inside and all around the Stafford hotel -staying there is a true London experience.
