Five Really Good Reasons Why you Should Visit Lake Tahoe

Posted on 30 November 2008

If you are still deciding where to spend the coming holidays look no further than Lake Tahoe.  This extraordinarily beautiful place, situated on a massive lake offers great dining options and numerous luxury lodging or vacation rentals; it nestles you in the mountains on the border of California and Nevada, with plenty of options for activities both indoors and out.

1. Northstar at Tahoe Resort
Northstar Resort has been ranked among the top ten by Transworld readers for the third year in a row and for good reason- Northstar Terrain is famous for hosting top snowboarding competitions such as the Pinball Rally and Oakley Signature Feature.  Even if you’re not a pro-boarder some of the activities you can participate in range from snowshoeing, telemarking, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, sledding and even ice skating!  Saturday’s during the winter season feature complimentary wine tasting parties where you can enjoy glasses of wine after spending a day in the snow then put your dancing shoes on for some party-animal fun while a DJ spins tunes.

2, Lone Eagle Grill at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe
The Lone Eagle Grill is located in the Hyatt at Lake Tahoe.  Be sure to have dinner at this fabulously rustic, “hunting lodge” style restaurant which is situated right on the lake.  Start with a glass of bubbly then choose from one of the many eclectic appetizers on the menu.  For your main course try the Elk tenderloin paired with a fine Shiraz.  There are select tables at Lone Eagle that overlook the shores of the lake to compliment dinner. Reservations are highly recommended.

3. Squaw Creek at Squaw Valley North Tahoe
Having completed an extensive, $53 million renovation in 2007, this Lake Tahoe vacation resort offers luxury rooms and suites, a lobby with views of the mountains and even tables with chess.  Take a break and play a few games of chess while sipping on your hot cocoa before going back outside for another skiing session.  If you don’t want to ski, you can take a dog sledding ride.  Fun times abound as the beautiful blue eyed Siberian Huskies pull you along in massive fields of snow.  The resort also features a luxury spa where you can get a nice hot stone massage or body wrap, there is no better way to end the day.

Upon your visit to Tahoe you absolutely must go to Zephyr Cove and ride a snowmobile.  The brisk, chilly wind in your face and breathtaking views will make you want to take this ride over and over again.  Ride up to the top of Tahoe—on the South Shore’s only lakeview trails. Snowmobiling at Lake Tahoe’s Zephyr Cove Resort literally puts you on top of the world! Cruise over mountain meadows to peaks nearly 9,000 feet above sea level. Glide through towering pine and aspen…breathe in the fresh air, marvel at the amazing scenery.  Some of the sites are so beautiful that they are almost surreal, like a magical wonderland.  Visit:
